Its the final weekend of Spring Brake! I was asking my kids at breakfast if they were excited to get back to school--- "YES!! YES!!" Really didn't shock me too much. I know my kids really enjoy school, they are like sponges for knowledge- I guess a little of my excitement for learning new things has rubbed off on them.-I found a few quotes that think really sum up the importance of learning and knowledge.
Knowledge is love and light and vision.
Helen Keller
The brighter you are, the more you have to learn.
Don Herold
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
Groucho Marx
The only real security that a man can have in this world is a reserve of knowledge, experience and ability.
Henry Ford
Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.
Mahatma Gandhi
My favorite--I had this up in my classroom when I was teaching.
Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
Benjamin Franklin
How about your children?? I'm reminded of a lil girl I had in my class who was always asking questions... Her Mom shared a moment from home--After asking her daughter why she's always asking questions the girl replied " I have a need to expand my knowledge!" WOW should we all be that eager!

I LOVE that last quote because it's so very, very true. I noticed when I was in school it was all books, writing and tests. No field trips or experiments or hands on learning-I personally think THAT'S the way to teach people!
ReplyDeleteWow love the little girls answer!! My kids find school OK--I haven't asked if they are excited about going back. Great Quotes-Like Helen Keller's!
