It's Labor Day again, the holiday that signifies the end of a long hot summer, and a chance for one last trip to the beach. For most , it will be the big grill-out on Saturday, with friends and neighbors, lots of hamburgers, ribs, fried chicken and beer.
Labor Day weekend is also the chance to pick up a few last minute bargains before the stores put away their summer stock in favor of fall clothing and holiday items; for many children, it means that school has started again. So just what is it we're supposed to be celebrating?
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength and well being of our country.
