Heading into her 8th year of gymnastics--my daughter is thinking of giving it up. While I know she really enjoys it I think she feels discouraged because she's not learning fast enough--I had to bring out this post I did a few years back when she was having issues with the balance beam.
While watching my daughter doing the balance beam -this is the piece of equipment that made her quite 1/2 way through last year- "ITS JUST TOOOO HIGH" I was reminded of some great inspirational quotes.
"Once you choose hope, anything's possible." - Christopher Reeve
"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
"Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all." - Dale Carnegie
After reading this post my daughter realized things make take time but don't give up,try again, it will come to you! How do you encourage you children??

So proud of her... she may have let her fear get her for a minute...but she tried again !!

My first experience on a balance beam was in my junior high school years. I thought it was so cool to learn how to do a cart wheel off that thing. Congrats to your kiddo for overcoming her fears! ;)

What a trouper!!! Never give up!! She did a graet job in the video!!! Very Cute!
ReplyDeleteGood girl! With her determination, I'm sure she'll go places when she grows up.
ReplyDeleteIf she enjoys it, she definitely should stick with it! I'm sure she will work through all of the difficulties and rise above the troubles she's having!
ReplyDeleteshe does enjoy it that's why I encourage her so much...she's tried a few other sports that she didn't enjoy as much and I let her stop, because at least she tried.
DeleteWhat a great job--Keep it up! Nice quotes

DeleteThat's awesome :) My son really enjoys baseball, and we learned the hard way this season that sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose (we spent the whole season losing :( ) and that's okay as long as you try your personal best!
ReplyDeleteI tell her a lot --TRY YOUR best you cannot mesure your self against others.
DeleteGood for her and she did a perfect flip at the end of the beam!
ReplyDeleteThe dismount was her fav =)
DeleteI love inspirational quotes and she looks great on that balance beam. My kids loved gymnastics but then switched to competitive trampolining (huge olympic training center in our town). Very cool.
ReplyDeleteWe just got a trampoline center near by--she LOVES it!!
DeleteOK, first off, she's amazing! I am terrified of that balance beam!
ReplyDeleteI do my best to encourage my children to be who they are and to do whatever makes them happy. Except for driving me crazy...that is not allowed. ;) :O
she is braver then I ---will not catch me on the baby beam=)
DeleteMy Son has been a magnet for getting hit by baseball pitches this year 3 times in a row up to bat :( He was quite anxious to get back up to bat the next game after being hit so many times the game before, but we encouraged him by showing him pictures and videos of the great plays and at bats he has had this season and told him to remember how good it feels to hit the ball and make a play. He was pumped and jumped into the gams and played like a monster. Sometimes they just need a reminder that although there are times when unfortunate things will happen they are normally just flukes and they CAN DO IT!! Thanks for the post
ReplyDeleteYEP--Get back up on the horse!!
DeleteThe perfect inspirational post of a grey monday! Thank you for sharing your daughter's story!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it!
DeleteThis is a great way to inspire your daughter not to give up. I hope that she sticks with it, maybe she will be the next Mary Lou Retton or some of the more popular gymnasts today.
ReplyDeleteWell you never know...
DeleteGood job, Mom! I'm all about encouraging my kids. When one of my children was very small, he was convinced he couldn't learn to roller skate. I took him by the hand and walked him around the rink, telling him he was one of the best skaters out there. It worked! He overcame his fears and became a good roller skater. This was the only time I stretched the truth with my kids, lol!
ReplyDeletesometimes that extra encouragement is NEEDED
DeleteThat's a great achievement.. great to see your kid is able to tackle the balancing beam. Great on encouraging your kids :)
ReplyDeleteTHANKS
DeleteAwww... I always wanted a daughter in gymnastics! I got a son instead :) You must be so proud! She's really good!
ReplyDeleteGreat quotes. I remember gymnastics and that scary balance beam! The ones who could do it fearlessly always amazed me.
