GO GREEN! A Family Guide to a Sustainable lifestyle is a must have this Earth Day!!
This book gives the family opportunities to spend time together and see how they can transform their lifestyle to becoming more healthier & greener.
Calculating your families footprint is determined by four parts
1 Carbon footprint
2 Food footprint
3 House footprint
4 Good & Services footprint
We should have a common goal to make a smaller footprint. I think making a smaller carbon footprint is where our family does pretty good:
follow the three R's REDUCE REUSE RECYCLY
stop junk mail
walk, bike, or car pool
While reading this book I found working on the other three wouldn't take that much effort! Here are a few tips to help you reduce.
FOOD FOOTPRINT-
buy at local markets or grow your own food
compost (WE ARE DOING IT THIS YEAR)
reducing you use of plastic bags and bottles
HOUSE FOOTPRINT
clean with all natural cleaners
choose recycled or sustainable furniture
plant a tree in your yard
don't wash your car too often
GOODS & SERVICES
Don't throw away old books recycle/donate
them
Don't buy the newest X Box game if you
know your best friend already has it-
ask to borrow it or start a game exchange group.
I really loved this tip-- Instead of buying a friend a new sports
bag for her Birthday, take her on an outdoor adventure course!
There are many things we NEED but more often we rush into
things we WANT and don't think about the impact
it has on our footprint.
DID YOU KNOW?
Many products make our lives better and increase our status...they also distract us from what's important and cause clutter in our lives!
I hope you are enjoying this look into GO GREEN! YOU CAN FIND
IT AT BARNES & NOBEL or AMAZON (Edda USA;$12.95/hardcover)
