Beach Bag Must-Haves! EZ Squeezes are a MUST!

The weather’s heating up and families across the country will be heading to pool parties or

the shoreline to cool off this summer! I thought it might be interesting  doing a

 "Beach Bag Must-Haves!" series.

Now you have to ALWAYS have some basic essentials like suit, towels, sunscreen, but what

 about the extras??

With the holiday weekend many of us might be planning a family road trip.  We often find ourselves compromising on nutrition and paying an extortionate amount for the convenience of prepackaged purees for our toddlers on the go.   NOT ANY MORE!

EZ Squeezees are washable, refillable, easily packable food pouches that are perfect for taking your own healthy snacks out to the beach.  They are also wonderful on a family road trip, or wherever your adventures take you. Because they’re reusable, they’re also eco-friendly and far more cost effective than store bought, single-use squeezable snacks.

Also if there issues are from a food allergy or simply someone who wants try to stay healthy with programs such as Paleo, Atkins, Vegan or  Gluten-Free, finding food to fit these sorts of lifestyles can be near impossible when on-the-go, and EZ Squeezees can be of help.

EZ Squeezees sell for $6.99 for a 3-pack, you will save so much cash in the long run-worth investing in a few packs. If your making your own food you do it in large batches so  fill them up for the week freeze and thaw as need.

Check out this recipe and my success with it! The EZ Squeezees reusable food pouches open on the side and make it convenient to fill. You can do it using a spoon, or use a funnel or to pour it in straight from the blender.

Set in fridge or freezer EZ!!!

Matzo Brie

Passover has started. Passover celebrates the exodus of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt. The food most commonly identified with Passover is matzo. When the Jewish people were fleeing Egypt, they had no time to wait for the bread to rise and the result was unleavened, flat bread (matzo).   I've found this yummy recipe on Kiwi.com for a Matzo Brei

Ingredients
2-4 pieces of matzo
4 large eggs
3 tablespoons butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions
  1. Briefly run matzo under warm tap water until soft (not soggy). Squeeze gently and set on paper towels to drain excess water.
  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk eggs until well blended.
  3. Tear soft matzo into medium-sized pieces. Add to eggs along with salt and pepper. Stir until blended. If using one of the variations below, stir additional ingredients into egg-matzo mixture.
  4. Heat butter in large skillet over medium heat until melted.
  5. Cook the mixture until eggs are set, turning with a spatula to make large scrambled pieces, 3 to 4 minutes: Serve immediately.
Flavor variations:
Herb: Stir ¼ cup chopped herbs (we suggest parsley, dill, chives, and basil, in any combination) into egg-matzo mixture before cooking.
Smoked salmon: Stir ½ cup chopped smoked salmon and 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives or dill into egg-matzo mixture before cooking.
Sweet: Use an equal number of eggs and matzo pieces. Prepare as directed and top with either cinnamon and sugar or maple syrup. (this is the one I made YUM YUM)
Serves 2

Getting creative with Torani Flavors

Pfeffernuss Cookies (Germans Spice) are ALWAYS a huge hit in our family, so when we started our holiday cookies...these were on the to do list--I thought what a better way to get creative with Torani then to add some of the Gingerbread flavor to the recipes--you'll have to look one up, Oma uses one printed in German by her grandmother, what I can tell you is  it called for about a teaspoon of ground ginger---we put in three teaspoons of the Sugar Free  Torani Flavor syrup-we also had to modify our flour just a bit tto get the cookies just right.

Over all the cookies was  wonderful!!!!! The kids started eating right away I barely had time to snap a photo =)

You can pretty much use Torani Flavored syrups in anyway you would like. I'm not a huge gingerbread fan,so I wasn't super excited to try it out in my coffee... but I must say I like the syrup. There is a hint of cinnamon that I really could enjoy! My daughter is a huge gingerbread fan so I made her
 a Torani Gingerbread Latte
1 cup of milk
a splash of decaf-coffee (she's 10  doesn't need the caffeine  )
and 1 tbsp of the Torani's Gingerbread Syrup

She thought she'd died and gone to heaven!!!!!

Add the syrup to your waffle mix, a splash in Hot Coco, we even put a little dash  of the Salted Caramel in  our rice crispe treat
You can check out the Torani website for many more ways to use the syrup.

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks and Torani.

Nevertheless, this post is my own honest opinion.

Hamburger Cake

In my last Happiness is... post I had a photo of my son with his Hamburger birthday cake . I've been getting many complements about it and thought I'd share how I did it This cake is surprisingly simple to make.

Things You'll Need

Yellow cake mixes
Chocolate cake mix
Icings Red,Yellow,Green

Preheat the oven according to the directions on a box of cake mix.

Prepare the cake mix according to the directions on the cake mix box. Use one box of yellow mix and one of chocolate. Pour the mixes into two 9-inch round cake pans each that have been coated with non-stick spray.

Place one of the yellow cakes on the serving plate. This will serve as the bottom bun of the hamburger. Adda layer of green icing between the bottom bun and the "hamburger" Yo do not have to worry about dripping  the more uneven at the edges the more "REAL" it will look Place one round of chocolate cake on top of the yellow cake to serve as the hamburger patty.
Dripping red and yellow icing on the chocolate cake will make the hamburger looks as if it's covered in ketchup and mustard.

Use the last piece of yellow cake as the rounded bun top. Trim the edges if necessary to resemble a bun.Try to keep these pieces large enough that you can make the "fries" Place this on top of the hamburger and "condiments." Ice the top yellow cake with a tan icing to make it the color of a hamburger bun and place sliced almonds on the top to simulate sesame seeds.

The fries are just the extra pieces from the top bun in cut and wrapped a pieces of parchment paper around and places a dab of red icing next to them.

Here's that cute photo one more time =D
