Sometimes I feel as though the calendar is filled with a huge collection of bizarre holidays that we don't even know about... but wouldn't it make life more interesting if we celebrated more of them? I'm super thrilled to know that January 19th is National Popcorn Day, February 1st is Bubble Gum day,and I don't mind marking down that May 6th is No Diet Day!
Another fun holiday that is right around the corner is National Hat Day on January 15th.
A day set aside to wear and enjoy a hat of your choosing, there couldn't be a better time to pick out your favorite shape, size, color and style and display it proudly. But just as Valentine's Day is symbolized by the heart and Halloween wouldn't be the same without jack-o-lanterns, Arby's has decided that National Hat Day needs a symbol as well. And what would be more appropriate than paying homage to the iconic ten-gallon hat than by declaring it the national hat of America?

That's right, Arby's is preparing to celebrate National Hat Day in the grandest way possible and has introduced a White House petition to declare the ten-gallon hat the national hat of America. Head over there and sign it to show your support!
Wow, I've never heard of any of these but they sound like fun ;-)
ReplyDeletePopcorn holiday would be fun in my house - kids love it! And the hat day - wow my mother in law has a huge collection, she could probably put a different one on each hour!! LOL

Some of them sound like great fun but you know, I wonder how far we take things in the spirit of commercialism. Hat day would be fun though.... I have a zillion of them!
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a National Do Not Procrastinate Day... I need that extra boost. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! We love Arby's and my kids like any excuse to wear a hat!
ReplyDeleteThe 10 gallon is a ghastly hat! I will never sign! However, since you reminded me, I'll be sure to mark my calendar and wear a fabulous shimmering purple hat tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI used to love Arby's, as a kid, and then they lost their menu. Is it back now? Funny about hat day. You know that "Long Lost Texan" song...wearing his 10 gallon hat?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! Thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I taught elementary school I found an obscure holiday for us to celebrate every day. They would have loved to have had National Hat Day.
