Oliver and Jumpy #ChildrensBook #Review

I will start out with a positive notes about the stories. I think the unique friendship between the cat and the kangaroo is sweet. I like the fact that Oliver is allergic to mice but he still likes to chase them and let them go. The pictures in the book would definitely capture any childs eye. Over all the storylines are simple and would be easy for a young child to understand.

I have two constructive criticisms for the author - many of the pages have  A LOT of text, all boxed together---even if the same amount of words were separated throughout the page I think it would be a better look-- also the approach to some of the topics may not go over very well with many parents...a smoking hog, while Oliver points out its a gross habit-I think the picture of the hog with the  cigar is unnecessary--just smoke coming from the side of the page would have go the idea across with out the cigar being shown. Also later in the story Oliver comments he likes to flatter Jumpy because most girls like it--I think really EVERYONE like to be flattered now and again.

Over all I give the collection a 4 of 5 stars.

Princess Sophia and the Frog ~~REVIEW~~

Princess Sophia is a little princess who has everything a little princess could wish for:
a big castle with many things inside.
However, she is bored and wants to fly to the moon.
One day a little frog comes by and helps her fly high up into the sky.
They come to land on different planets, where Sophia learns about feelings. She also learns that she can choose what mood she surrounds herself with, as this will impact her own.
After her return to the castle she realizes that all she needs to be happy is to be surrounded by good friends.

Childrens Book REVIEW " Princess Ruby's Make-Up Ballet Class"

story description

Kids (even princesses) have moments of being brave every day. Often it goes unnoticed, even to them.

In Princess Ruby's Make-Up Ballet Class, Princess Ruby tackles a new and seemingly scary situation and learns what it really means to be brave in everyday life.

- A great way to help children gain a healthy perspective on things that are new and uncomfortable.
- a Glossary Of Dance Terms used by this princess ballerina.

The book is not only a great way to encourage children to try something new but it also shows how the Queen was very in-tune to her child's feelings...as parent it's good to be encouraging but not assertive.
It is very simple to read and the glossary of Dance terms is VERY helpful  the pictures are wonderful done and full of color they will keep any princess interested!

If you have a dancer or lil princesses she will surely LOVE this book!!!

Suzy Libermann's Hugo the Happy Starfish Books ~~REVIEW~~

I was please to be introduced to the wonderful wold of Hugo the Happy Starfish.
Right now my son is all about sea creatures so as soon as he saw the shark on the cover
I had no problem convincing him to read these books with me.

In  the Last Bully Hugo is a  cute little starfish in the ocean in this story he comes across several bigger fish who are sadly -bullies! After seeing his friend getting bullied, Hugo decides he's had enough. He forms the Anti-Bully Club and teaches the bullies a valuable lesson about respect.

By working together as a group, Hugo and his friends manage to show the bullies that there is always a bigger fish in the sea and that happiness comes from respecting others not bullying them.

The story is done in a great way to get your children to open up about what they might be seeing or have happening to them in school. It shows the power ONE can have to effect a whole group.

In the story The Secret to Happiness  Hugo is tired of feeling sad, one day he sets off to find happiness. After much searching, he discovers something that makes his heart do a somersault! Sharing with others is the only thing that makes him truly happy. Adults strive to teach children to share with their communities. Encouraging children to give teaches them empathy, as well as a sense of social responsibility. Children can feel empowered by giving and sharing with others. This book is a great way to teach EMPATHY. I like how colorful the books are and how easy the messages are given, showing how great Hugo feels when he learns to help others. Each book has a great spot for your child to add their own experience to the story by sharing a drawing. I also found the introduction of Spanish a very nice touch to the story.
