LOL

Do they have AA for animals???????

While clipping Q's this week...my cats are always helping---but this week Shalby would not move away from the CVS paper -- "THEY HAVE GOOD DEALS  RIGHT! I KNOW"

Then I notice what she's pawing at:

Maybe this is what that questioning look is for "WHERE"S MY BEER??"

What we do/can do for Earth Day.

EARTH DAY!!

Started over 40 years ago --its just starting to
catch on!!! I think we forget how much power we
have to reshape our surroundings and
ultimately our children’s future.

We already do a variety of things:
take our chic reusable tote out shopping

turn off lights when you are not in a room.

reuse/recycle your plastic and tins.

For this Earth Day, some additional ways to improve our environment and our health:

Conserve Water

The amount of waste and chemicals in the production of water bottles is absolutely staggering. It is a myth that bottled water is healthier, and there are so very many fun and easy options now for healthy filtered water.

It is very simple to put a filter on your tap faucet.

Buy a stainless steel water bottle;
different colors for everyone
in the family works really well.

Your reusable water bottles pay for themselves quickly from all the money you save by not buying disposable ones.

Ride Your Bike

Riding bicycles have many benefits. First, it helps with the environment by eliminating carbon dioxide fumes because bikes don't run on gasoline.

 Biking offers many health benefits.

•increased cardiovascular fitness

•increased strength

•increased balance and flexibility

•increased endurance and stamina

•increased calories burned

Plus, being out on your bike is just flat-out fun. MOST Everyone can do it! The more time you spend on two wheels, the harder it is to take yourself too seriously!

Eat Less Beef

The production of meat and dairy requires the use of large amounts of pesticides, fertilizer, fuel, feed and water, and it releases greenhouse gases, manure and a range of toxic chemicals into our air and water.
You don’t have to convert to being a vegetarian on Earth Day, but here are some things to remember when making up your menu every week:

Remember meat is not the main course; it should be a small part of the meal. Fill your plate with salad and veggies first.

Seek out meatless recipes and ideas. We thought eating less meat would make for a boring and less fulfilling menu each week. This is absolutely not so. We have the most amazing, inexpensive meals and are always trying out new and exciting options. This has proven, for us, to be much healthier than eating the same meat filled menu every week.

Have  Some Green Craft FUN!!!!!

Last year each of my kids planted a small tree in our yard
and  my daughter and a few friends made paper.

TLC has a fun list and
check out Green Kid Crafts

Don't let being GREEN scare you
even if you do everything  in this post--
this Earth Day FIND ONE MORE WAY TO BE GREEN!!

We can all do better.

Live Below the Line NEW BZZ CAMPAIGN

As a Bzz agent I join many campaigns---most are for product my family uses sometimes they are to help raise awareness is Live Below the Line by exposing to us to  the daily difficulties experienced by the 1.4 billion people who live in extreme poverty every day.  I have a very tight food budget for my family of 4...but its closer to $4-$5 per day.

Live Below the Line is a campaign that challenges individuals and communities to eat and drink on just $1.50 per day for 5 days. Through the insights gained over the 5 days, Live Below the Line(FB) is assembling a movement of people to get passionate about eradicating extreme poverty. Through partnerships with various charities, the campaign raises both awareness and critical funds.

From May 7th - 11th, I will eat on just $1.50 a day to

raise awareness of the challenges faced by these 1.4
billion people, and to support the work of Global Poverty Project .

The best way to stretch your dollar is add more to the bottom line. You still only get $7.50 for the week, but if you team up with a few friends, you can pool your resources to greatly increase your options at the grocery store. So go out and recruit some friends!

With a little creativity you can whip up some tasty meals. Now, you probably won't be seeing these in Paula Deen's next cookbook, but they'll get you through the week. I'll share the recipes I'll be making--here's one to start off:

Pasta with Shredded Onions, Carrots and Garlic:

1 package of bow-tie pasta

1 tablespoon salt

3 carrots

1 tablespoon pepper

1 onion

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 cup canola oil

I'm on the Claritin Moms Crew #ClaritinMom

Birds are singing, buds are starting to bloom and eyes are staring to get red & runny -SPRING IS HERE!!... and if you suffer from seasonal allergies; like my lil guys you've got  a stuffy and itchy nose, and constant sneezing. Yes- springtime and allergies go together like birds of a feather. NOW I'm ready to face them head on- I'm so excited to be part of the Children's Claritin Moms Crew #ClaritinMom - I have the chance to connect with moms all around the US and we can share our stories and experiences dealing with seasonal allergies.

We received a great welcome kits to help us get the word out, just walking through the market with the bag-starts up a conversation and I can pass out some samples, also share a few facts-

Up to 40% of school children are affected by allergic rhinitis, making it one of the most prevalent of all chronic childhood conditions.

- Every year, approximately 2 millions school days are missed due to the symptoms of seasonal and indoor (dust, mold, and pet dander) allergies.

- Daytime symptoms of allergies may cause children to have difficulty concentrating and learning in school - and nighttime symptoms may cause sleep loss, leading to daytime drowsiness. Thanks to Claritin for sharing these facts and making me feel OH SO SMART WHEN I SHARE THEM =^D

Here are my kids
ready to face
the day!!!!

THANKS CLARITIN!!!

Disclosure: As a member of the Children's Claritin Moms Crew, I receive product samples and promotional items to share and use as I see fit. No monetary compensation has taken place, and any opinions expressed by me are honest and reflect my actual experience

Its just STUFF.....

CRASH!!!!!!!!  The sound that brings terror into every parents mind!

Followed by "MOM, I'm SO SORRY!!!!" OK lil lady is talking so she's alright!  As I make my way to the "crash site" I see pieces of china scattered EVERY  WHERE! Honestly my heart sank into my feet!!!!! BUT somehow I kept it together! "its OK  get the  broom..."

My daughter and her cuz had asked if they could play tea party she had grabbed a few of the china cups and some other do dads to decorate for the party. NOW she's almost 10 and had played with these before so I didn't think much of it, but somehow in their excitment the girls lost balance going down the stairs and that was the crash.  Most of my tea cups are yard sale finds so really no big loss...as I was cleaning I did see one thing that caused my heart to sink again-- a minishoe from my collection, it was the shoe my hubby bought me on our honeymoon. The ankle strap had broke off...

thanksfully a lil superglue and should be as good as new

I flashed back to my teaching days and remembered when children make mistakes, errors and failures they need to be treated as important learing steps.
This was going to be a lesson for myself as well as the girls. Now they will learn to hold on more firmly next time; and I learned IT'S JUST STUFF! Thankfully neaither of the girls had any  bumps, bruises, or broken bones.
As the adult we have to learn to controll our emothions somethimes.
REMEMBER as the parent, caregiver or teacher we are the role models of behavior for our children,we demonstrate everyday  through language, social interaction or ways of handeling stress...Use every moment ( even the "BAD ONES") as a way to learn. From birth, children begin to infulence the behavior of parents and caregivers. In turn, parents and caregivers influence the child. Thus, developing  a give-and-take process that contintuosly inflouence each other's behaviors.
