New Item to my blog--

Many of the blogs I read are filled with wonderful recipes. While I like to cook and do daily - I believe there is NOTHING better then a home cooked meal. I do it because its a need...not really a love  My daughter on the other hand took up a cooking class this year in school and her love for cooking has REALLY blossomed. My kids have pitched in in the kitchen at different times, but after her class my daughter felt like she was ready to go at it alone---well I was there with the camera of course.  =^D

That bring us to the new segment I'll be sharing on my blog  KOOKING with KAYLEIGH!!    Along the way some of your recipes may pop up!

The first dish she wanted to make is one she's been helping me cook for many years. Lasagna!!!!!
There are many recipes; we followed a basic three layer one.

1 box of Lasagna noodles
1 lbs of beef, sausage, turkey
1 jar of sauce
16 oz mozzarella (or more if you really like it cheesy!)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1/2 ricotta
1 egg
salt
pepper

Cook up your meat choice, Cook the noodles according to the box...while they are cooking
mix the Parmesan, ricotta and egg in a bowl, adding a lil salt and pepper to your liking.

I liked to put everything in bowls to make it EZ to put on the layers.

Put a layer of sauce on the bottom of the pan, noodles and more sauce. Another layer of noodles then

ricotta mix, sauce and beef...

then mozzarella!!! As you can see we are a cheese loving family!!! Do  these steps again for another layer. Then cover with foil and bake at 375 for 30 minutes.

THEN ENJOY!!!!!!!!

  2. How great that she's taking initiative in the kitchen! My son took a cooking class at school and it sparked his interest. I do like the idea of my kids cooking dinner for us one night in the future. How did she feel it turned out?

    1. That's the funny thing she really didn't enjoy eating it as much as making it--lately he taste buds/tummy are not liking tomato sauce so much--but hubby has tow pieces and too the rest to work the next day for lunch!!!

  3. Our son has always been homeschooled. He cooks lunch most every day and often cooks dinner. Homemade mac 'n cheese is his specialty. He uses sour cream, lots of creamy cheese and onions to make it taste spectacular! Looking forward to more recipes.

  4. Pamela... This is awesome!! I too cook with my daughter and have been for the last couple of years. She's 5 1/2 (that half is very important to her [wink]) I can't wait to see how her love of cooking develops in her as well. Can't wait to read more on Kooking with Kay!
